Bike won't start, any ideas?
 

Hi all,

Missus's 600 Fazer won't start. The immobiliser goes through its routine on the indicators, and all seems well. Press the ignition and it sounds like it wants to start then I hear this buzzing from below the seat area, and this stays as long as the ignition is held on.

All the lights and stuff work so its not a flat battery, and it fired up ok the other night.

Anybody got any ideas please (and no Fazer jokes?!)

id still get an optimate on the battery and top it up and see how you go.

Had this on a Hornet and the battery was low but the lights etc still worked ok. The lack of use and cold weather dont go together well for the bike batteries. If you buy one make sure its a sealed gel acid type they are much better that the lead acid type. More expensive though but worth it.

Have ya checked ure spark plug? Sounds like it might not be gettin a spark? This is a guess from a total amateur though!

Sounds like a flat battery, it'll try to crank then the voltage will drop below a certain point and the relay will oscillate.

Jump it off another battery see what happens

Or the weather proof RING SMART CHARGER that can left on forever indoors or out. And all for around £25 mines a best buy for sure.

I'd guess that the batteries turned to poo. It may charge and work for a while but it sounds to me like it can't deliver enough current for the starter. If you get a new battery it's still worth investing in an optimate as others have said if you have an alarm fitted and it's not used for a while.

If it aint the battert it could be the alarm/imobilliser in line fuse, i.e. not in the fuse box. Hope you get it sorted.
