lights on for bike / what about mopeds ?

hi all,
just a rant and question.
motorbike riders ride with lights on, new bikes have this as auto on function.
the number of mopeds that i see ride with out any lights..
as its cold and damp, when i go by car i have the windows up, heaters on, and music on..........when i switch lanes on the motorway i check my mirrors.
in town its gets ruther silly and frighting to look at my mirrors for some moped with no lights ......
and its mostly mopeds with no lights.
i thought it would be commen sense ...
besides it's it law ?
any comments........

is it "in law" ?

advisory yes, sensible yes, but I can't see as how it's "Law", of course I could be behind the times, but wouldn't that mean you couldn't get a "dyatime only" MOT or has that stopped as well ?

Cheers Mark.

I think the law is if a vehicle has lights they must work.

But yes common sense would dictate they should be on!

PMSL, nice one xan.

I'm not sure but I believe that always on headlights was an agreement by the manufacturers, not sure if it became law. MOT wise, if a light is fitted it has to br operational as already said.
