New poster, new bike and new fairings!

Hey everyone :D

I've been a lurker here for a few months and finally decided to take the plunge and register after I bought my K4 SV650S last week. I haven't been able to ride the bike yet as its back home, and i'm at uni :( Come this thursday i'll be taking it out for a spin!

I'm a big fan of the way the bike looks with the lower fairings but was totally put off at the £400 price tag on the suzuki website. However, I saw some K6 lowers on ebay for a stupidly low price (£41 with delivery - one side is brand new, the other has a slight scuff on it the size of a 2p). I bought these in the knowledge that they were the wrong colour (my bike is Candy Grand Blue YC2, these are the newer turquoisey blue) but I intend to get them sanded down and resprayed anyway. The way I see it is, even if I end up paying £150 on the respray of these fairings (don't know how much it will cost - any ideas?), i've still saved a lot of money instead of buying them from suzuki.

My question is this: do they need brackets or anything like that to fit them to the bike?

Cheers in advance :)

Ah bugger. Any ideas where I can get them from? I guess they would have come with the £400 fairings from suzuki :(

i dont think you can get just the brackets from suzuki, you have to buy the whole kit............ but im not 100% sure, this has been posted about b4, try a search (i will try to find it)

but sombody will be along any minute with the answer

Wow, suprising what a quick search turned up! Thanks Hovis, I found loads of stuff and a word doc with instructions :) Also found on Robinsons Foundry a lower fairing fixing kit. I've emailed them asking what the contents of the kit comprises of, and if I need it to fit the fairings :)

Yea, thats what I thought, for what's essentially just a few nuts and bolts and some small metal brackets :S

Hehe :D

Can't wait to swing my leg over and fire it up, haven't been able to as i've had a couple of hand in dates this week and a few assignments to finish before the Christmas break. It's my first big bike (coming from a 125) and it's restricted to 33bhp, but I only have 6months left till I can legal have it full-power :)
