Earplugs - do you wear them whilst riding?
 

Personally I don't unless I am on a long ride (very rare). I choose not to as I actually think it desensitises me too much ... that's bad :thumbdown:

What do you think?

i bought a pack of foam ones but gave up as often they would expand and pop out of my ear while riding, making it uncomfortable!

I am tempted to get some made up at the next bike show.... but they cost an arm and a leg!

Im much the same,and never wear them in town.I do try to remember to put them in for motorway work,and do feel more relaxed for it.

I always wear them, too bloody noisy without them. I find that I can hear traffic better with them in because it drowns out the wind noise. Although they do get a bit sore after a long ride. I got a set of those DIY custom fit earplug at the bike show, THEY ARE CR@P!! but that was the cheaper ones that you fit yourself, I don't know what the ones are like where a pro fits them for you...

I tend to pilfer them from the dispenser at work as they have noisy machinery, just cheap disposable ones, get almost a week out of them mostly but I find it so much more comfortable (audibly speaking) with them in, plus my bluetooth kit is so much clearer without having to combat (or overpower) wind noise, I got to work after trying my new headset out listening to music and my ears were ringing for ages, after that I rarely use the bike without them, only if i forget them some place.

only for (very) long rides on the TeDiuM. I never wear them on the SV.
Mainly because I don't do long rides on the SV ;) but also because the wind buffeting on the SV does not catch me right on the helmet as it does on the TDM so there is no turbulence to bother me. The wind flow is just a lot cleaner so a lot less noise.
When I do wear them I use plugs with a filter so that I can still hear the engine well 8), listen to some music :cheers:, or chat on the intercom to the missuz :rolleyes:

i do when on long journeys, cause nine times out of ten if i don't i'm completely deaf, or ringing ears when I get off. i use them at work anyhow so its not aggravatin to me. Im Indoors always has music on, but to me thats not safe because, unlike me he can't hear whats going on around him. I can still here stuff, its just quieter. When your trying to get someones attention on a motorway thats got music on its rather difficult, as him indoors finds out, when he stops riding......almost makes him wish he'd used plugs in the first place, if only to stop earache off me afterwards:-)

MP3 player with some heavy foam noise reducing earbud things (philips one IIRC) on any trips over 10 miles.

Don't get any ear ringing after long trips. (but never get an mp3 with an integral battery ... worthless POS when you can't replace a battery halfway through a weekend out grr)
