I'm selling my bike on biketrader and have received this email:

Vehicle Details:
MAKE: HONDA
MODEL: CBF
PRICE: £2600

Message:
"With regard....I am interested in puchasing your following item forsale...so i will like to know the the last price, kindly get back to me with the pics and the present condition of the item..my method of payment will be via cashier check or Bankers Draft. Do get back to me with all the follwing details before i can make an offer". I will also be responsible for the shipping of the item from you loction to my destination.. Awaiting your quick response.


This guy 'dennis williams' doesn't exactly sound that articulate but I'm not being a snob. I'm confused by the fact that there's 9 good quality images on the website and I've described the bike/stated the condition yet he's asking for the pictures & the condition? has he read the ad?

Any opinions? am I being daft or are the alarm bells ringing quietly for a good reason?

Scam, there was a post not so long ago with a very similar sounding theme. Dont go near this bloke!!!

well, just tried ringing the guy who's mobile number I thought was a fake seeing as it's 07980 987 654. I said "hi is dennis there please" so he put the phone down. I rang back and asked again "can I speak to dennis please" and a strange voice who sounded a bit like george actduckdaqwango (from fonejacker) said "no you can't" then put the phone down. I rang back again and said "don't put the phone down, I'm calling about the bike in bike trader - you emailed me so I'm ringing you..." then he paused for a few seconds before a called him a ***** and hung up. Gonna make another thread about this to warn others.

I don't think I'd sell a bike to anybody emailing like that on general principle :-P
