speedo not working ?

hi chaps
my lads got a curvy sv650 and the speedo has stopped working. can anyone point me in the right direction to have a go at fixing it or the bit thats likely to be busted? i think its an electric drive rather than a cable so a bit puzzled

If you jack the front up and remove the wheel you will find the speedo drive has a rotor in it which tends to break up.A new one is ??15.Take very special care reassembling the front end as they tend to get broken by hamfisted fitting of the front wheel.
