Someone walked out infront of me...
In the wet on Cannon street as I was filtering past some stationary traffic, just appeared from between 2 taxis. Now as it was wet and I was startled I braked a bit hard and it when down.
The damage was a bent rear brake leaver, another scrapin of my crash bung, and some more scratched on my hand guard/bar-end. Now I thought nothing of it and and after they helped me and the bike up, I checked it over and told them not to worry... So would you have been so... mellow? Or maybe you'd have got some details off them??? |
Re: Someone walked out infront of me...
I'd have ripped their arm off and beaten them to death with the soggy end. I'm not mellow:D
Glad you seem to be OK though:thumbsup: |
Re: Someone walked out infront of me...
hmmm, i didn't have one quite so bad but literally 5 mins after I'd bought my sv, a woman ran into the back of me on a roundabout. she was well upset. checked the bike, took her details and told her not to worry as no one had died and there didn't seem to be any damage. she rang me later to say thank you for being so calm.
me and grinch smashing down the stereotypes of the angry biker. |

I agree with Lissa i don't think i could have held my temper back.

Re: Someone walked out infront of me...
I'd like to think I would have released the brake lever (as I did on parliament sq this week after locking up).
But then I might have hit them harder, but it wouldn't be me that was upset. Glad the hand guard saved your lever! |
Re: Someone walked out infront of me...
I had a kid about 8 - 10 yrs run out in front of me, scared me half to death, the kid ran ou tof an alley way and into my path, he was about 1 and a half meters in front of me and when he saw what he did he froze on spot. He was to close for emergancy stop, so i just flung myself and bike over on its side whist pulling on brakes. Its amazing how quick you can bin a bike when you mean to. I was doing 30 and missed the kid by inches.
When i climbed up from under bike i just wanted to rip off the kids arms and beat it to death the wet ends. Thankfully I didnt as he was balling his eyes out, tears and all screaming "oh im sorry, Im sorry my mum will kill me" I checked on kid and calmed him down. He was on his own cos his mum had sent him to shop to get milk for breakfast before school. I told him to go home (later thinking i should of walked him there and had a go a parents) I picked bike up and luckily it was all cosmetic barring the headlight unit, bent back brake, all three front fairings and headlight unit smashed. That it really. |

ARRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH is what I'd have been thinking, and would have wanted to batter them. Buut, me being me, would have been calm and nice to said person. ridden off ranting loudly in helmet most probably. Suppose it depends on how much you love you pride and joy.
