Clutch Issues
2002 Suzuki SV650
Trying to find some help on my clutch. It won't disengage properly. We got a new clutch adjustment actuator mechanism and cable. The clutch release is at the correct angle, won't disengage. Tighten up the clutch cable as tight as it will go, still won't disengage. There is no slack in it. Also the push rod is also in correctly and rotating. It's not on a stand either, the rear tire is on the ground when we test it out. (Someone on the US board asked if it was on a stand.) We just bought the bike 2 and half weeks ago, put 100 miles on it. 60 of those miles was just to get it home after we bought it. Starting to feel like we got scammed. (we are asking you guys in the UK because we all know you are smarter then most of us Americans) Please help, Friends Across the Pond |
Re: Clutch Issues
have you oiled the cable?
Here's the advice i gave another chap http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=103060 |
Re: Clutch Issues
Yep cable is oiled. When we pull the clutch lever, we see the clutch release turning and push rod is moving in about a 1/4 inch, and returns when released. Could it be possible the push rod isn't making a connection on the inside?

It's an easy job to whip the clutch cover off and have a look at the clutch itself and see if it move when the levers pulled, the plates could be binding and if you do it on the side stand then you shouldn't lose any oil or need to drain the sump:cool: |
Re: Clutch Issues
Going to give that a shot. Post back when I have answers. :)
