New Site Feedback Pls...

Hi Guys, not been around for a while as I've been flat out over the last few weeks trying to get my new site done for work.

Now its almost there and ready to release I wanted to get some objective feedback on it if possible - more interested in critisism on things I can improve on... Any comments appreciated!!!

http://www.websitedesigndemo7.com/co...ogsection/7/9/

It'll take over the old stylie site which has served faithfully for the last 3 years... www.sail-croatia.com - we've had comments about it being user friendly which I have always liked so have kept it simple. As business has grown it has become a bit of a mish mash though and hence the new one...

Anyway - am thinking it'll go live tomorrow...

Cheers for the input,

Grant

Grant ive honestly tried to find some fault or flaw or something to be critical about ... but i honestly cant.

Nice simple to follow layout (i purposely didnt look at the current one to put me off) great descriptions of the boats and trips and ace photos from previous happy campers...or boaters...or whatever the hell you'd call em :D

Its what i'd want from a website if i was browsing for a boating holiday. And the best bit is that it doesnt look "corperate" if you kow what i mean. Its pretty without being too glitzy and in your face with flashing this and banner ads that.

Having spent time doing the same thing for our works website last year i understand where you are right now and all i can say is....GO FOR IT.

Good work mate :D

Nice looking site Grant.

The testimonials in blue, at bottom of page, catch your eye and have changed before you've time to read em, maybe slow em down a bit.

Now that I've done my techy things (flush DNS cache) it works - obviously a routing issue to the server, but if it's going to stay on that server you might want to check out routing issues.

The issues I can see on the page are that the RRS 2 link looks out of place ... I'd change that to a normal menu link personally. Whilst I'm talking about them, the menu links aren't uniformly spaced (vertically) - what's going on with that?

The link to site map is actually a link to localhost - so it doesn't work for me. If you're going to use the site commercially, you might want to check out the copyright details on some of the scripts included within the pages. Also whilst we're looking in the source code, it tells me you're running Joomla, and also reveals what modules are in use. Joomla is currectly affected by 13 security advisories, and I would strongly advise against running a commercial site (esp if you're taking credit/debit payments) under Joomla.

I'm told by a sailling friend of mine that you rarely see pictures of the fleet (other than SunSail no-one does it), and it's a good way to catch people's eye - so maybe stick a picture on the home page.

The banner on the site looks a little stretched, if possible try reshooting with a wide angle lens.

The use of JavaScript alerts looks wrong IMO, it'd be much better to re-draw the page with a error clearly visible, rather than a popup window - for example the contact us page.

On the contrary to Spiderman, that's the kind of site I'd expect to see if I was to look for boating holidays, so in that respect I'd say it was a comercial site. But that's in a good way. If the site was too cluttered it wouldn't look nice, but it's just about borderline. Not too much info, not too little.

On the booking form, there's a minor spelling error - so recheck the entire site (get someone else to proof read the entire thing). On the booking page, you have a comma then a capital letter as if it's the next sentence.

That's all I can find at the moment. :)

It's a great design, but there are some little niggles.
