It's not Oulton or Donington, but there are quite a few of us planning on doing Silverstone on 31 March if you're interested in coming along? Most will be running in the novice group. See here for more info:

I must be stupid but how does a track day work?

Do you use your own bike? Do you need extra insurance? Do you need a multi million $$$ pit crew to hold the flask and sandwiches? Will I cane the tires?

I am intrested but have never been.

You can use your own bike or hire one, if you use your own bike your normal insurance will not cover it but there are track day insurance policies.if you are a novice you are unlightly to (cane the tyres) so to speek. :)
