Moving bike by trailer
I have had my test date moved on another week by me bloody bike school.
I fear I may have to take the sv I have already bought from the shop as they need the space. (They were very good and said they would keep it for me but it will be 5 weeks now and thats if I pass :( ) I do have an ifor williams trailer that i can use to put it in and its plenty big enough (8 x 4). Thing is how do you tie it so it doesnt move about? The sv only has a side stand so it seems a bit precarious to me or am I worrying too much? I guess i could tie it by the fork stanchions at the front and striaght onto the back wheel at the back? Any advice gratefully accepted :) |
Re: Moving bike by trailer
Would it be an option to ask the dealer if they would deliver it for you, either by rider or trailer?

Re: Moving bike by trailer
You have PM.
Which dealer is it? |
Re: Moving bike by trailer
Well I guess i could get it delivered but seeing as I have the trailer... :)
As it happens the shop has said they will hang on to it until the new test date. Dont know what they'll say if I fail it though..... |
Re: Moving bike by trailer
Well that's a good start, but don't fail! ;) No pressure! :smt081

Re: Moving bike by trailer
you're right to worry about transporting the bike without tying it down, as it will fall over! If possible wait til you've got your test before collecting, but if you do need to transport via trailer, I'd suggest:

Re: Moving bike by trailer
Have you got a photo of the trailer, without seeing what there is to tie it down on to it's a bit hard to advise.
I've used my dads sheep trailer (without the roof on) to transport my SV a couple of times, luckily the sides are lower than the seat/frame so I can tie it down quite well. I put it in diagonnally (otherwise it won't fit) and jam the front wheel up against the end, then when I tie it down I make sure there is some forward tension on the straps to prevent it moving backwards. |
