They are EBC Pro Lite race discs, total bargain at £80 each new!

Most of the mechanical stuff is finished now, total brake system strip and rebuild, new race pipe, rearsets etc. I'm really impressed with the sound from the exhaust. Was a real pain in the ass that the previous owner ground off the fairing bracket lugs to fit streetfighter lights so had to weld a new mounting on today. Next big job is the bodywork :-s

Cant wait to get it on the track though.

Around £1200 so far after buying the bike. The race system was £430, bought that mainly for the ground clearance improvement but it sounds fantastic too. That includes bodywork though that I havent fitted yet.

I bought the bike as a non-runner although there was nothing wrong at all with the engine except for a crappy battery and dodgy battery connectors :-)

The brakes were seized solid and we litterally had to lift it into the van :-(

So, the prep has involved;

Stripping the bodywork and all roadgear from the bike. easier said than done!
Removing the Meta alarm from the wiring loom (what a real pain in the ass that was!) and then stripping all non-essentials from the loom.
Front fork rebuild and service along with fitting racetech emulators and fluid.
new plugs, service the air filter with new oil (it had a K&N already), fresh engine oil and filter, safety wired the filter.
Total strip down of all brakes and re-assembly. yet to add fluid later this weekend to get the brakes operational. new HH pads and EBC pro lite discs. kept the existing discs for my wet wheels. oh yeah, bought some spare wheels.
re-weld a new fairing bracket mount and add jhs fairing bracket. JHS bodywork yet to be fitted and painted.
swapped out the existing exhaust system (normal pipes and Remus can) for the Hindle system.
Removed the naked bars and added race clip-ons.
removed the existing footrests front and rear then added Diamond Racing rearsets (very nice quality), rear brake reservoir needs a new mounting as its moved with the rearsets.

yet to do....

safety wire the sump plug and oil filler cap. fit the brake lines and bleed systems. fit the bodywork and paint. fit new screen.

hopefully ready for pre-season test day on 15th March, race the day after at Anglesey. All welcome if you fancy a ride out. Anglesey is a hidden gem of a track.

Cool, seems you lucked out WRT the non running presumably bargain donor bike!! 8)

What you gonna do about the rear shock?

You are not leaving much room for teething problems only testing the day before first race!! :shock:

Are you going to get it on a dyno to tune it for the new filter and system?

Yeah, it was fun to hear it fire up outside the guys house before I left ;-) Still, thats the gamble you take when you buy this stuff. As you said in another thread, its only a pile of nuts and bolts at the end of the day so everything is repairable in my book. As long as its straight then all should be fine.

As far as the shock, its a K4 GSXR1000 shock that came with the bike. Planning to leave it for now and see how we go at the first few meets but the longer term plan is to replace with something meant for the job, something like an Ohlins, HyperPro or Maxton.

I'm not expecting much in the way of problems really, mechanically I'm not doing anything radical and the engine was good already. Most of the prep work is really just about good quality servicing so if anything it'll be more reliable than when I got it.

I spoke to JHS about tuning but they advised not to bother on the FI bike. It'll be going on a dyno pretty soon just to give me an accurate graph to work from for gear changing etc but not planning any fuel changes.

Also, didnt bother with a steering damper yet. Blue have you ridden without on track? If so how does it seem?
