Help Me Please
Hi,
my sv has been in garage for a few months, i got it out and had to use jump leads to start her, this was fine but my speedo jumped around numbers whilst stationary, then when i pulled off, the speedo was staying on 'zero' any ideas?:confused::confused: also my front brakes felt a bit stiff, like the pads were holding onto disc... *i know, i know.... i tried to be a real all weather biker, but it was too cold last few months* .... time to get back on, any other tips for getting bike out after a while laid up... You might need to give it a proper charge on something like an Optimate charger, or worse, replace the battery. |

or... crack on and do it yourself. The front brakes sound like they could do with a clean. As a minimum I'ld remove the front wheel and give the caliper pistons a clean. If you are going to attempt it shout back here and we can talk you through it if you need help. |
Re: Help Me Please
I'd start with battery, and definately strip the calipers all the way and clean all the corrosion from the seal recesses. Rubber grease when you put them back together.
For some reason when I got a rebuild kit for rear caliper I got a little tub of some pink stuff. Anyone know what it is, it looks completely different to the castrol rubber grease I use. |

It's for cleaning your hands with after YC. Keeps em soft. ;) Guy had a similar problem with his pointy on here re the speedo. Turned out his leads were loose on the top of the battery. |
Re: Help Me Please
Huh? Isn't that what brillo pad and nitromors is for? :-P
