The groups are organised; myself Shonadoll, Thumper21 and 3 others in one. Where and when are you joining, it'd be nice if you could ride with us into Glasgow.

Jilly xx

PS - My filler cap is dodgy!

It's a shame you didn't contact Shirley Ann sooner, if you've got 101 things to do just imagine how many things she's got going on! She's got 70 plus people, routes, camp sites, ferry tickets, sponsors, T-shirts, banners, local authority nonsense, restaurants, revised routes, celebrity appearances, back up vans, a bike trailer, fuel stops, supplies, etc, etc, etc!!

Email was fine back at the beginning of March when you were having a nosey but by the end of April a ringing phone was probably the only method of getting through to her...

Never mind, if Shirley Ann escapes with her mental faculties intact she intends to make it an annual event, so we'll see you then

Wynn Taylor Is Taking Part In A Charity Motorbike Ride In Aid Of Cancer Research And She Is Even More Determined After Being Diagnosed With The Disease Macmillan Cancer Relief
WITHIN weeks of signing up for a marathon motorcycle ride in aid of a cancer charity, biker Wynn Taylor was told the devastating news that she was battling breast cancer.
Most people would have followed doctors orders and pulled out of the four-day bike run across Scotland, but not Wynn.
In the midst of her chemotherapy treatment - and just weeks after having a mastectomy - the mum of three, of Irvine, Ayrshire, will be riding her Suzuki Bandit in the allfemale ride, called Breast Way Round.
It is her way of thanking Macmillan Cancer Support, from whom she received a cash grant following her diagnosis.
Life for Wynn, 40, took a dramatic turn for the worse in December 2007, when she discovered a lump on her breast.
For someone who regularly carries out self-examinations, it was a shock.
"Two days before I found the lump, there was nothing there," she said. "I thought to myself, 'Don't be stupid. It's not what you think it is. It's just a blockage'."
Even after visiting her GP, Wynn convinced herself there was nothing to worry about and throughout Christmas and New Year remained tight-lipped about her worrying discovery.
But on January 10, she had tests and a week later doctors confirmed the lump was malignant and that it had spread to her lymph nodes.
Brave Wynn broke the news to her three daughters, 17-year-old twins Health and Rebecca, and eight-year-old Hannah.
She recalled: "I felt completely numb, in complete disbelief. But when they told me it had spread to my lymph nodes, that shocked me more.
"I thought, 'How could this be happening to me?' "I breast-fed all my children, was rarely on the pill and felt I'd done everything to protect myself."
However, in between getting her results and waiting for surgery, office manager Wynn was dealt another blow when her employers made her redundant.
"To add insult to injury, my employers sent me a letter on January 22, five days after I was given my results, telling me I was to finish on February 8," said Wynn.
With three daughters to bring up and no job, single mum Wynn had no alternative than to seek financial help from Macmillan Cancer Support.
The charity, which assists cancer patients and their families, awarded her a grant.
Now Wynn, who served with the Women's Royal Army Corps, is hoping to raise awareness of other cancer patients that help is available by participating in Breast Way Round on May 23 to 26.
It is something Wynn, who only passed her motorcycle test in February, is determined to do, despite undergoing major surgery to remove her left breast at Kilmarnock's Crosshouse Hospital six weeks ago.
Wynn, who will have reconstruction surgery in 2009, said: "I was quite emotional going into hospital, but up until then I'd kept it out of my head. It wasn't real.
"After my surgery, it was horrible. I had two drains and lots of padding and dressing. I felt very numb, but I was back on my bike in two weeks.
"Throughout all of this, my bike has been my focus and the run was my light at the end of the tunnel.
"I had a Suzuki Bandit at my back door waiting to be ridden and it was breaking my heart. I actually agreed to do Breast Way Round before I had actually sat my bike test.
"Now I want to raise sponsorship and support the cause.
"My oncologist had some words to say about me doing the run.
"But I have recovered so much better than I'd thought so I'll be riding my own bike."
She is one of 70 riders who will be setting off from Kilmarnock's Rugby Park on May 23 - wearing a pink highvisibility vest courtesy of Suresafe Protection - before travelling 100 miles a day and visiting some of Scotland's leading tourist attractions, including Inveraray, Fort William, Drumnadrochit, Inverness, Kingussie, Glencoe and Tyndrum.
On day four, they will be welcomed across the finishing line in Glasgow's George Square.
Although the majority of riders are women, the men on the run will be wearing pink bras over their leathers to show their support.
Through signing up to Breast Way Round, Wynn has forged close friendships with some of the female bikers, including organiser Shirley-Ann Barnes.
Shirley-Ann even accompanied Wynn to her first chemotherapy session and helped her choose a wig.
Wynn said: "I am doing the run mainly because it's the one thing that holding me together.
"But also because I want to raise money for Macmillan and to be in the company of like-minded females. I didn't realise there were so many of us. We've become like a family.
"The bike run is about not having to think about chemo, finances and my hair falling out.
"It's something that'll take me away from normal, everyday life for the benefit of other people."
Shirley-Ann said: "There are a lot of women like Wynn who have an amazing amount of courage they didn't realise they had.
"Only in the face of adversity do they realise how much inner strength they've got. Doing the bike run is both inspirational and, for Wynn, it is also about giving something back because she is raising money for Macmillan."

I'd like to make at least some of this too.
