Integrated tail light
 

hey guys ive just bought an integrated back light for my sv650s k6, and wondered if any1 had one fitted. also i wondered because of the fact that there will be no indicators on the back (only in the back light) would it be worth it to invest in a tail tidy???

Tail tidy is all good, :smt045 I have one too. but remember if you tidy up your back end, with one of the intergrated lights, you need to get a flasher relay, as your lights might flash to fast, due to the drop in watts/amps going to your lights.

You can pick one up off the bay for 19.99 i think.

they are called flasher relays

Oh and get a 9x5 plate to keep things flush.

Just a word of warning - you may have to change your tailight for you MOT next year, as I seem to recall these things coming up before and it's actually illegal?

I'll have a hunt and try and find the thread....

Whilst some MOT stations may pass it, if you come across a copper that knows his C&U, it's illegal to use on the road. Why? Because C&U specifies how far apart indicators must be, and the integrated tail light is far too close together (legally).

Now that you're fully informed, you can make an informed decision. If you deem it worth the risk of a fine (and maybe points - no legal indicators), then go ahead. :)

ok cheers for that i had no idea there were so many damn rules and regs... mot is not due till next september ('09) so il just make sure i keep the originals just in case. cheers every1

Baph stole my usual line about its your choice.

However I would recommend VERY strongly that you dont do this.

The Indicators are not that bright and it may make it hard for someone behind you to see what you are intending doing.

I considered this mod along with the sidelight to indicator mod, but in the end decided not to for my own safety.

Also, being in Wales, with a Nazi running the Cops, Its VERY easy to spot you and use that as an excuse to pull you, do you for that and any other iffy-mods.

I'd agree with this, my mate had done the above two mods on his pointy and had so many near misses, the lights aren't bright enough! At night you'd think it would be better but it isn't, the indicators get hidden behind the tail light and if you brake they can be hardly seen at all!

Ive got them fitted (and tail tdy)took the old indys off and has always passed its mot and the old bill have never pulled me(yet).Maybe it depends on where you live or what mood the mot guy or old bill are in that day:???:
