curvy throttle
is there a mod you can do to sort out the ridiculously heavy throttle on the curvy?
any idea how much it cost and how easy it is to do. |
Re: curvy throttle
Oil it down the cable??? shouldn't be heavy, mine aren't and I got dinky none man hands
|
Re: curvy throttle
its not that, i've checked the throttle cable.
I've had a few go's on other bikes, (zx9r, r6, kh500, zx6r) all have such light throttles... |
Re: curvy throttle
There is something wrong if its heavy. Mine is light as a feather. Have you checked the routing of the cables and when were they last oiled/adjusted?

Re: curvy throttle
The are 2 things on the curvy that makes the throttle heavy as it is very light. Lack of loobing, or damaged/worn/ungreased worm drive. So I would look at those first.

Re: curvy throttle
hmm seems like i was wrong, so i need to lube it? i dont see how that will help, the throttle isnt sticky... and slackening the cable doesnt make sense to me eithier...

Re: curvy throttle
well cables are a plastic/rubber outer, and a metal braided cable inside. They get pretty dry in there, and they get stiff. I've had throttle cables snap on me because they haven't been maintained. Its better to start with the simple stuff first then go from there.
If I'm wrong someone correct me, but you need to take the cable out at the top, so the nipple is showing, then you need to bodge some sort of vessel that will act as an oil catcher thingy,or http://search.ebay.co.uk/cable-oiler...0oilerQQrprZ80 buy a tool, spray some lube down it and leave to work its oily magic |
Re: curvy throttle
Yep you right dizzy... check the cable and the worm drive at the end of the cable that converts you leaver pull to a push. If the bearings are missing or its not greased it too will make your clutch work heavy.

Re: curvy throttle
NOTHING WRONG WITH MINE!
In fact I've also done the yamaha throttle tube fix to have an even snappier throttle which works just fine. Mind you I've learnt that there are two types of SV650 throttle cables. Some versions have only one cable connected. Mine has two cables one to pull and another to push the throttle butterflies. |
