Sticker removal (again!) help please
Hey guys,
After nearly 2 and a half years of owning the SV I finally got sick of the sight of those warning stickers and set about removing them. I did some searching and went for the hairdryer method, but so far the results haven't been great. The plasticky covering came off the top of both of the stickers that I've tried so far (tank & top fairing) while I had the stickers about 1/3 of the way peeled off. The stickers have now ripped and the 2/3 of each one that are left behind refuse to peel away, they're coming off in little 1mm pieces, bloody frustrating!! :smt091 WD40 doesn't seem to be removing the gluey residue either... Any suggestions please? :help: Thanks |
Re: Sticker removal (again!) help please

Re: Sticker removal (again!) help please
If you've got the clear plastic off the top of the sticker, take a clean rag and diip it into petrol and then rub the rag over the top of the sticker.
The petrol will eat the glue and the sticker and you'll be able to peel it off the tank or if you rub hard enough the sticker will ball up and then come off piece by piece. You can the use the petrol rag method to remove any excess glue off the paintwork. Thats what I did with mine when I took them of the GSXR and it worked OK, took a little while to get them all off though. So you'll need to "stick" with it.. |

Keep going with the hairdryer it will work, afterwards to remove any sticky substance I use a dab of petrol on a cloth!

PETROL ON RAGE
Works wonders getting those stickers off. There should be some petrol left in the jerry can in your garage or the inside of strechies jacket ;) |
Re: Sticker removal (again!) help please
Yeah..
Pour the petrol on it, put something metal against it and then test your spark plug ; ) |
