Speedo broken
 

Ey up, seems like it's my turn to have speedo problems now!

History: Front wheel swap 1 year ago. Everything has been working fine since. Left out in the cold and wet every night. SV650 K3 unfaired. Was working fine last night coming back from meet.

Problem: This morning on the commute the speedo just went all over the place, reading up to 186 to 0mph, just like a random number generator.

Solution: After some searching on the forums I think it is more likely to be a wiring issue, shorting somewhere, bad connection etc, rather than the speed sensor in the wheel as the speedo is not dead or showing multiples of a speed, it is just randomly changing all the time. So I should take the front apart and check the length of the cable when I get home I presume?

ive had the very same problem today as i have had on one occasion before. i think you will find its just a loose connection on the battery should just be a case of screwing the terminals nice and tight. hope this helps

if you end up neededing a new speedo drive i have a complete one here in full working order all you need 2 do is take yours out of the conector and plug my one in.

if you need it feel free 2 give me a shot...;)

Can't see how it would be the battery, as everything else electrical is working fine??

On the curvy at least the speedo is very sensitive to problems with the power supply, while the rest of the bike isn't so much, so a weak contact at the battery or problem in the starter relay often shows up first as problems with the speedo- but whether the same goes for yours I don't know. Certainly every time I've had that issue- wobbly needle- it's been the main fuse or battery connection.

Interesting, I'll fiddle with that now then and see if it fixes it, my apologies to whoever first mentioned it!
