stuck in gear
1 Attachment(s)
I have a real problem that I can't get the front sprocket to turn. I had a lowside and have been trying to replace the gear selector and think that the bike is stuck in 3rd/4th (the gear I was in at the time of the crash). Now that I have attached the gear selector as suggested on another post it is too low and wont budge. Do I need to take it to the garage or is there something simple i can do? Clutch cable seems fine although pulling it in doesn't free the sprocket or the shifter. I took the casing off and still can't see a problem.
I have an 02 650s. cheers Thinman Attachment 1316 |

Re: stuck in gear
OK, first off, mount the foot peg back on, there's a surprising amount of force your boot puts through that lever, just giving it a gentle tug won't be the same. Now you've done that rock the bike back and forward and pull the clutch in and out while trying to change gear. You'll probably find it drops right in. Bike gearboxes are built differently from car ones and are not happy changing down the box while stationary.
Here's hoping it's nothing serious. |
Re: stuck in gear
was gonna say cant you start it in gear with the clutch pulled in then try and ride it forward and pop it out of gear, as jambo said they dont like moving when staitionary.
hth cheers mark. |
