Re: nail in my tyre :0(
I had a nail in my new tyre, i tryed getting it plugged but no one would do it for me, very unsafe apparently to plug bike tyres, likerly to have a tyre blow out. Better be safe than sorry

I posted up here at the time and everyone seemed to think it was OK. It was in te centre if the tread. Upto you see what tyre place says. |
Re: nail in my tyre :0(
You can plug a bike tyre if the puncture is in the centre of the tread.
Whilst i wouldn't say that it would be as safe as an undamaged tyre, they seem to hold up fine. |
Re: nail in my tyre :0(
Yup most places say certain death, but I had one in for 4k of further abuse and I'm still here.

Re: nail in my tyre :0(
so would i be best ringing round some bike tyre shops ??
|
Re: nail in my tyre :0(
Yeah pretty much, there are liability issues though. When I went to the local one to get mine plugged he said he only did it because I took him the loose tyre, wouldn't have touched it if it was still on the bike.

Re: nail in my tyre :0(
The British Standard for tyre repair says that ZR rated tyres should not be repair. Of course they can....
