Chain Hitting Renegades

Currently having a problem with my twin low level renegade exhausts the problem is the (collector?) touches the chain when dropping down gears or when you push the bike , Obviously I want to get this sorted before the chain saws through the exhaust.
Any ideas on how I can reduce this other than lowering the bike.

Ill try and provide some pics.

Are you sure the chain isn't too slack???

Could always get a better exhaust... ;)

I had twin Renagades 9high level) and they where a pig fot that. The only answer I found was to keep a very close eye on the chain tension.

As far as chain tension is concerned.

Can anyone confirm that I measure 30mm up and down tension. I.e. 15mm upwards and 15mm downwards with the bike on its side stand in nuetral?

Benji had a similar issue with his twin low level renegade pipes. we slackened off all the pipework bolts on the left side and managed to twist the pipework and do it back up to get us a few mm. If it touches occasionally just over heavy bumps or something it'll be fine, if it's running along it it won't, if you see what I mean. I don't like the setup myself because of this, but it looks and sounds wonderful.

+1 to Jambo's post. Had a similar issue with my twin hi-levels, you can twist the pipework to give a bit more clearance and also adjust where the pipe goes on the collector to get more clearance. A few mm makes a big difference. My chain never marked the pipe, so it was not hitting it consistently.

I have the same issue, but it's not a problem.

The only time mine does it, is when the chain is getting slack.
So personally, I'm not bothered about it, as when I start hearing the 'ping's of it on downchanges, I know it's time to adjust the slack again.

(Only other time it catches is when I've got it on the rear paddock, with the engine engaged, when making sure the chain is lubed up. Occasionally when on tickover, the engine 'tugs' (if that's the right term to use) when the idle speed gets low and close to stalling point, and it makes the chain jump about a lot, and catch the pipework.
