Veypor again
Just wanted to post up a wee tale of brilliant customer service from the nice chaps at Veypor. I bought one of these toys just after they came out, about 3 years ago. After a year and a half or so the sensor picked up some damage and shorted, and so I put the thing away- I mainly got it for use while I did the front end swap anyway. But just recently I got a new wiring loom for it, and decided to try it again. It turned out that when the sensor burned out it damaged the unit's speedo function, so now it's just a rev counter :-( It was well out of warranty when it happened though.
So, anyway, I thought I'd drop them an email and see if there was any chance of a repair. Inta-Moto in the UK never answered, but Nathan from Veypor (who I think is the boss) emailed back and said that they could repair it, for $130 inc postage. The repair means basically a whole new cicuit board, and also covered postage back to Canada But realising how old the unit was (I was one of the first in the UK), he also offered to do me a totally new Veypor 2 for a big discount, and then after hearing about my problems with the UK distributor he slashed the postage too. End result, one new Veypor 2 for ?85! And it arrived from Canada in just 4 days. So, very happy. It's so easy to bleat about bad service on the internet, so I thought I would give credit where it's due. It's still just a big silly expensive toy but I like it, and the V2 has more options as well. Delighted! |

Re: Veypor again
One of these:
http://www.veypor.com/ Basically it's gauges/datalogger/lap timer/accelerometer/quarter mile timer, and lots of other toys. It doesn't do any of these things brilliantly well but it's a lot of fun, every out of town traffic light is fun when you can do a timed 1/8th mile or 0-60 run out of it :D I originally got it because back when I did the front end conversion nobody had really come up with a good speedo conversion, so I used it as my gauges, but now it's just a toy. |
Re: Veypor again
I've always had an eye on those Veypor dials but heard some news about them staying with the light on after switching off the motorcycle, too small numbers to read properly and some water insulating problems. What's your view on this NWind?

Re: Veypor again
Now that looks like a very sweet piece of kit for the racing types out there , I like the fact that there are all sorts of options for the racer that will provide some very good datalogging ...... that gets a thumbs up from me for just the sheer thought that has gone into it .

Water ingress... Yeah. Not good. This is the main reason I think of it as a toy, there's a BIG HOLE IN THE BACK. The front may or may not be waterproof, but the BIG HOLE IN THE BACK is a bit of a concern! I had mine on the ram mount so I just took it off when I parked. Even with the billet case for it there's still, you've guessed it, A BIG HOLE IN THE BACK. Hang, on just checking something. The new one looks a bit more sealed, and it comes with a wee flap for the big hole. Which doesn't fit, just like with the last one. Underwhelming that, I pointed out that fault when I got the last one :-k The hole in teh back is for the serial cable and power supply for PC connection so you can plug it without issues on the bike, the wee cap provided would do the job IF IT FITTED, which it doesn't. But I'll get around that. |
Re: Veypor again
It seem like I've done the mistake of mixing the two v's
I was thinking you've got this... http://www.trailtechproducts.co.uk/s...22-PDA_450.jpg ...when you have this http://www.veypor.com/images/dash.jpg I really like the top one, you think it's any good? |
Re: Veypor again
I stuck one of those on a Bandit, very badly :D It's a nice wee unit, very crisp clear display but for me, it's too small. Very well made, good price too, but I wanted the speedo to be about twice as big as it is. A few SV Rider guys have put them on SVs, I remember there was a lot of trouble with the tach but I think that was eventually fixed.
My veypor doesn't have the dash unit, I can see what they were attempting but it just looks stupid. |
Re: Veypor again
(while we're talking about aftermarket gauges, Motogadget are the nicest I've ever seen, they're just lovely. And Elliot make a really nice analogue tach, but I'm not sure what speedo would match with it)
