Downpipes.. (big pics)
Since I've flogged my lowers and haven't got my bellypan back from the painters yet (or the means to attach it to my bike) I've been giving everything a good old clean.
This is where its got to after half a days cleaning. I want the rest of the system to look like my lovely shiny art can, and tips? (Tried resizing but its not working) http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/8...oto0045dm8.jpg http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/2661/photo0046bd7.jpg http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/9...oto0047oo5.jpg |

BIG PICS!!!
Go to Asda and get some barkeepers friend, mix it up into some paste and lob it all over the downpipe. Leave it a few minutes and get a green scourer and some water and scrub. It will get the initial brown crap off, in a nice sludgy mess. Rinse it all off. Then get out your dremel or wet and dry, or both. I have just done YCs spare pipe like this today and it was in worse condition. Its now nice and shiny. Its not as pristine as my two but it was in a naff state. Although, this pipe was in my kitchen not one the bike( think it would be easier to do on the bike) And for the piece de resistance go all kwak with the autosol, and dremel.......and pooooooof you'll need your sunglasses!!!! HTH.....ps have you received your mounting kit yet? |
Re: Downpipes.. (big pics)
heres the pipe I did today, the front downpipe was practically as brown as the rear and was flippin difficult to say the least, but heres the end results of a bit of patience. I didn't see the point of doing the rear because you don't see it and it goes brown again anyway as its not easy to get to once back on the bike

Re: Downpipes.. (big pics)
Mine wasn't as bad as YC's when i started but it wasn't far off. It took a few hours with a green scourer and parrafin though.. so at least its a start.
I'll get the barkeepers friend, been meaning to since you first said about it. I haven't got a dremel, and whats wet and dry?? Thanks :) If i've gone to all that effort, I'll definitely go kwak on it, sunglasses at the ready ;) |
Re: Downpipes.. (big pics)
Christ, that looks good.
I'll be doing this myself in a few weeks :) Thanks for the tip about barkeepers friend! |
Re: Downpipes.. (big pics)
Oh, dizzy, they're trying to sell me the full on mounting kit for €70, but all of a sudden the replies stop when I ask about just buying bolts and spacers. Grrr.
Between me and Pete, I think we'll figure it out though! It should be almost done at the paintshop now, looking forward to seeing the result. |
