Increasing ride height
I'm quite tall and want to raise the ride height of my naked SV 650 55 plate for a bit of extra leg room and I'm told it will make the bike a bit more responsive in the turns. I believe the best way is to replace the shock? Whats the best shock to go for? Is this a good idea!? and what are the other implications, if any, of replacing the shock with a longer one?
much appreciated...aching legs and butt! |
Re: Increasing ride height
If you want more leg room or a more comfortable riding position, you might want to think about a set of adjustable rear sets. Should allow you to get a comfortable fit as you can set the height and position of hte pegs just as you want them.

Re: Increasing ride height
The shock/dogbones won't make any difference at all to the riding position, except maybe tilt it all forward a little.

Re: Increasing ride height
Get a set of foot pegs from Buell.
They are about one inch lower that standard. Take the hero blobs off and you shouldn't grind them (much!) I did this mod, makes it a lot more comfy and the tiny decrese in ground clearance doesn't slow me down. Edit; just phoned M'cr Harley (sorry for the swearing) the part number is N0006.1AD, current price is ?26.63. |
Re: Increasing ride height
This is it on a Buell, just needs a bit of "fettling" to get it on the SV.

Re: Increasing ride height
You'll need a set of adjustable rearsets to alter the riding position or leg room.
How tall is quite tall??? |
Re: Increasing ride height
Taller seat would help too.

Re: Increasing ride height
Aaahhh Thats pretty damn clear...best option is a rear set and a taller seat. Rapid replies guys...thanks a lot.
Blue Pete...what are the hero blobs? Ha...excuse my novice Q's and a Buell rear set is goign to be loads cheaper than an adjustable set too right...Hmmm. I've just bought the bike so its going to be a busy summer tweeking and riding her....awesome |
Re: Increasing ride height
Hero blobs are the metal bits at the end of your footpeg that are designed to scrape on the ground if you get the bike REALLY far over. aka hero blobs
