Dyno Figures

3 Attachment(s)
Finally got my bike dyno and jetted for the Full renegade system I had fitted , had a long wait for a space to open up at H&M racing in orpington  but was well worth it

Specs:
K2 2003 SV650 Curvy
Full Renegade Single Can race system
Milage :21k

Besides the exhaust the bike is completly standed engine wise , this was not a dyno jet kit, just a plain re-jet and some mixture adjustment

Attachment 1503

Attachment 1504

Attachment 1505

71.08 BHP at rear and 45.42 ft lb

The guy said the bike ran really healthy and is a very good figure for a carbed curvy with just the single mod, Altho he said sv650's don't really get that good a gains from any full systems? nothing like IL4's get , the tester was most impressed with the torque curve tho , looks pretty good to me aswell ,its over 40ft's from 4k all the way to almost 9.5k as you can see

Bikes now running great and ready for the mayday run :D

good figures. How did they do the test to get the results. as in gear used etc. did you watch the dyno run??

Obviously not done much of a variety of SV full systems then!

Dunno, forgot to count , but yeah i was watching i'll ask next time im down there ,

Yeah ,he said hes tested a few SV's from road ones to racer's from minitwins and none really get good gains like the IL4's do obvousily theres gains just not as good as other engine types , H&M do alot of race bikes , everybike getting done there was a race bike just 1 guy getting a can fitted and dynoed on his 600rr and me

Well, depends how you look at it, you can get 10 horse on a modern IL4 thousand with a full system, by losing the cats etc, whereas with an sv you're going to get around half that because the exhaust's not as restrictive in the first place. But then, 5 hp on a 70bhp bike is more than 10bhp on a 160bhp bike, proportionally. The best example of big gains is the Bandit 12 where just a slipon could give a big boost. But that was because the stock setup was crippling, not because the slipons were great or suit an IL4 or whatever. No bike gains power from an exhaust, it just gets back what it's lost ;)

That's basically wat the guys HM said, there isn't that many restrictions in the standard system even on the first run it put out 68bhp.... thats standed jets etc , hence not many "massive" gains to be had even with a full system, obviusly 5-6bhp is a good gain but i wouldn't consider it really worthwhile since most full systesm cost like 600£ , unless u really need those extra horses ur better of with an end can but tbh its not jsut about peak figures with the can it makes my bike feel alot more beefy and the Ft lb figure isn't peaking alot more than stadnard but its rasied the hole ft lb figure a tad higher along a longer range of revs , saying that i never dynoed my bike as standard so i will never actual know wat the system did but still :p

Anyhows just though i would share my results with u guys to add to the the vast amount of information on these forums :D

Depends on the tuning, on lightly tuned SV's then a slipon is the way to go. However, if your gonna start going down the cam swap, desnorkel and sort the fueling out then the exhaust will become a weak spot! A good exhaust is what you will then need, not your basic SV copy like Micron, Blueflame and Renegade to name a few.

Bearing in mind most IL4 engines are designed for racing and an SV engine isn't, the percentage pointed out by Northwind does show that a decent full system on an SV is a benefit equal to doing the same on a 600 or 1000 IL4.

Yup, no point in turning the motor up if it still has a cork in it :D Though Pod got good results with a standard (Raptor) exhaust and the cam swap.

On my 1st SV i had an Akra full system, a butchered K&N filter and then had a dyno jet fitted it was putting out about 75hp at the rear wheel which isn't a massive gain but as northwind says proportionally it is

Plus, like the cliche, you don't look at the numbers... Mine makes decent hp for a standard bore SV but it's hardly amazing, what does make a real difference is the shape of the curve, how long it's near peak, how hard it tails off, etc etc. I always say this but I'd sooner have my power characteristics and 67bhp than my 80bhp and a standard curve. One is good for boasting on the internet, the other is good for riding ;)
