TL1000Rs and Ss
So whats all the fuss about the frames on them peeps? Really considering getting one for next bike when my restriction is up and my insurance is due for renewal. I remember reading somewhere about the frames cracking etc and them needing a steering damper, while I have been looking I have noticed that if not all then most have dampers on them.
Mine is insurance group 14 and the TL is 15 so happy days with that :) Think that I am needing a V-twin again as I am used to playing lower down in the revs. This shows sometimes on the CBR hitting bend and what I used to be able to do on the SV is open up and get out quickly, however I sometimes feel like i need to run the CBR with me feet to get it back up to speed. For example throw it into a slow bend in second SV, its sort of in its power band, CBR no chance mayte! Then there is the factor of wanting something with a little oomph also. Any other probs I should look out for on them? All help is appreciated :D cheers :D |

The steering damper is needed because of the rotary rear shock, which is naff. The R is supposedly alright as it is.
If I was buying one, it'd have to be an S, despite the reputation for cracking frames around the headstock, and I'd budget 500 quid for putting an ohlins or other aftermarket rear damper and spring on it. Also remember it's a really big twin, and they do munch tyres a lot quicker than the SV. |

You daft sod... DROP a cog then boot it.. That'll pick up quick enough
:thumbsup: My cat could shuffle around a slow corner, in the right hands (e.g. a 10-20mph corner) and it's a HEAVY bike for what it is.. Second gear the corner, nice and smooth, and just as getting upright, into 1st and whoop it upto about 50mph (this is on a windy twisty road with a NSL obviously) then back to 2nd and RED LINE IT!!! that'll pull away quicker than a SV650.. Unless Squirrel is on it in which case he is half a mile down the road before you've exited the corner... I hate him.. What an eejit!!:smt092 Anyway, so back to my new bike because the gears were mullered on the Cat !!! :-dd :rolleyes: |

So when your restriction is up you want a widowmaker?? Why not enjoy unrestricted 600's for a bit first?

I have NO idea what that feels like, i.e. the difference in the same bike restriced then un-restricted. I did DAS cos I was old enough.. OH MY GOD.. NEW THREAD COMING ON IN ODLE BANTER |

Not only do they eat tyres, but you'll be shocked by the tank range. Its about 80 miles on a hard run.
