First thing to check (from work)...

Does this link work?

http://216.239.59.104/search?q=cache...n&ct=clnk&cd=1

That's just google's cache page for the .Org, so it has the content (and titles etc), but is hosted under an IP address, so will indicate if BlueCoat looks at the URl or the content.

Do you have permission to change features such as HTTP proxy on the computer(s) you use in the office?

EDIT: There are a few flaws in BlueCoat, but they won't be posted in the open forum. Do you have sufficient priviledges at work to take advantage of these, without being sacked?

Be careful with getting around blocking software, my firm just fired a few people for doing it... its not worth it

I suspect that their is a chance you can access sites like SV650.com without using any Computer Mumbo on the PC or system that would get you instantly dismissed if / when discovered.

But, yer may also want to find out / ask yourself what would happen if yer boss discovered you had been spending working time accessing websites for personal entertainment purposes.......I am sure their are rules written down somewhere..........just cos' you can does not always mean you should......and just cos' they have not yet found out what you have already been doing does not mean they won't.

It does always amaze me that just because someone has a PC on their work desk that they somehow think anything they keep on it or do with it is in any way shape or form "Personal"......but I know attitudes vary on this one :???:

(BTW presumption you work in the Private Sector and not HMG etc)

As it does me but there was a case through the courts a few years back about someone claiming unfair dismissal due to his private web & phone usage at work. Not 100% sure of the outcome but it did force us into putting policys in place, they virtually said "we don't mind you using the resource(s) but your usage is still being monitored so don't take the mickey" ;) Since then afaik only one person has been sacked for taking the mickey but a few are under investigation, they just don't know it

Yet
