fuel economy part 2

anyone seen bike magazine this month? they run a triumph 675 on apples :) well apples made into cider then distiled into bio fuel, it still does 156mph!!
is bio fuels the future?

Re: fuel economy part 2

No because the massive land areas required to "grow" enough bio fuel will cause as many problems as they solve. Thus we get destruction of forests, and pressure on food growing land leading to more environmental issues and food shortages.Does this sound familiar?

Re: fuel economy part 2

well, the article does say 2500 apples was needed to produce 2.5 liters of bio fuel!!!!!!!

Re: fuel economy part 2

Exactly.Translate that into a few billion litres of fuel to keep a large town supplied and suddenly the world supply of apples takes a bit of a hit.Im off for a cider before it all runs out.

until they develop biofuels from waste products rather than growing specific crops suce as rape seed it wont be a viable option, however there is hope... the de lorean in back to the future had a flux capicitor that the doc fueled with rubbish from Martys bin, and it could fly!!! only a matter of time people! lol

morrisons, Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda, they al sell it, its called cooking oil. And you can mix it with normal diesel and throw it straight in and off you go.

seriously how much is a L of cooking oil? as i am going to go and buy 50l of the stuff and chuck it in my mondeo.

On a normal diesel chances are it will be right, 50/50 with normal diesel to thin it a bit.

I wouldn't want to try it with a common rail diesel, or in winter.

I want one of these, run it on red which I can get very cheap...
Stupidly long tank range and built strong enough that grunts can't break them. Be a decent commuter.
