So Close.

I blame the Classic Bike supplement that came with Bike mag this month:mad:

An article claimed owning a 916 isn't neccessarily a direct route to bankruptcy and despair.

Found a yellow 748 Biposta, Lissa won't get on a red bike, with under 10k with a recent full Hackett service and belts. 3 grand. And only 30 miles away. Sadly a 10am call this morning proved too late.

Was I saved?

No, you have taken your first step onto the path known as Ducati Ownership. Once you start on this path, you cannot leave it !!

Let me guess your looking at ads for similar bikes on biketrader at the mo. However I cant think Lissa is going to thank you pilion wise :p

Well I've owned previous Ducatis. Bevel geared though and my 350 was a nightmare and the 900SS over rated.:(

It will be for highdays and holidays, although not actually for real holidays, as we'd keep the Sv obviously. However we've yet to try one out so may just be a (rusty) pipe dream.:(

My mate has a 1998 748 SPS and has never had a mechanical problem at all. The one issue he did have was the sidestand bracket snapping resulting in a big drop - lots of scratches on a previously spotless bike. By all accounts this is a common problem too.

From what Ive read about Duc,s, its not using them which causes the problems, used everyday and they seem to be fine, leave em parked up and they dont like it, get a trumpet, bags of power, all day comfort ;)

I'd go the whole hog and get a 999. Beautiful bikes that seemingly no one understood.

Had one. IMO a better bike to own than a Duke but doesn't quite stir the soul.

999 for 3k? Not happening. And anyway I'm buying with my heart and not my brain. Or is that lower down than my heart ;)
