Could this gap be a problem?
Hi,
Just got back from Euro trip. Too knkrd to take off luggage yesterday so did it this morning. When I did, I noticed a gap between the bottom of the rear light glass and the plastic housing supporting the number plate etc. You can see the gap in the pics. Is it supposed to be like that or have I lost a bit of the bodywork in the Pyrenees? :( [BTW it's a totally standard sv650 K1] http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...e/IMG_0828.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...e/IMG_0829.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...e/IMG_0830.jpg |
Re: Could this gap be a problem?
I think that's about normal iirc

Re: Could this gap be a problem?
I can't see the pics as I am at work, but it is normal on many of the Curvy ('99-'02) SV's to have a gap between the tail light and the undertray.

Re: Could this gap be a problem?
if you're worried that something has slipped, why not just remove everything then remount it all with a bit of blue loctite just to be sure?

Re: Could this gap be a problem?
Now you have an excuse to fit the custom undertray :)

Re: Could this gap be a problem?
Fairly certain they are all like that tbh

Re: Could this gap be a problem?
On the bottom picture you can see the thread of one of the bolts holding the undertray to the subframe, suggesting it may be a little loose. I'd go and tweak all the nuts & bolts up to check they were tight.

Thanks for replies guys. I'll give it a good clean tomo and have a closer look.

Re: Could this gap be a problem?
Ok, now I can see the pictures the gap looks normal to me. One suggestion though is just to make sure the screws holding the rear of the undertray to the seat bodywork are done up fully. They are located underneath behind the indicators and they are two cross head screws going straight up.
Nothing to worry about though as the gap is common with Curvy SV's. |
