Gravel

Was on a ride with Phil yesterday, but I don't think he saw this!

I had a huge moment coming round a sharp left hander. (Going from Thame to the M40 on the way back Phil, opposite where all that oil trail was on the other side). Phil went round the bend, I went round and suddenly there was a huge patch of sand and gravel in the middle of the road. God knows where it come from, clean roads so far. I skidded on it, don't even know which tyres lost it or both, but then I ended up with it gripping again but my bike slightly sideways so did a mini-highside but managed to keep going on the bike pulling my back muscle in the wrenching process. Anyway, stupid roads, can't even try to ride fast without some crappy gravel cropping up.

Keep an eye out for that stuff remember!

Saved Colin Edwards style,

I had one of those moments a few weeks ago, but lost the front entirely. Hence needing new crash bungs.

Ahhhh so that is what you were saying when we pulled over. Sorry mate, i couldn't hear you properly. i just heard mumble mumble mumble moment.... Well, glad you didn't bin it then or that route would have caught both of us out.

Speaking of rubbish roads, there was also that lovely trail of oil / diesel running down the middle for about a mile - mysteriously dissapearing into that industrial estate. hmmmmmmm

Uk roads are poo and getting worse.

I had a big one on the A54 on gravel in between the car tyre tracks.

Touch wood I have not had the delight that is the rear tyre gripping harshly and kicking me out of the seat yet.

I doubt it, they've been ropey for years. I haven't noticed any more gravel or muck on the roads than ten years ago. Same old same old.

Had a similar one some years ago chasing Amarko5, his **** flipped out on a bend, then mine did. We went back afterwards to find the cause. Big pile of muddy gravel just on the line of a bend.

ride safe

Blimey! Glad you stayed upright!

Its all the rain that we had the other day, it has just washed so much dirt and gravel of the fields and onto the roads. I drove through 2 huge, dirty floods on my way to work and the clutch on my car has only just stopped juddering.
