The OMG, this is going to hurt thread

Picture the scene.

Local NSL road, bending slightly to the right.

On the right are half a dozen terraced cottages with cars parked outside. To the left there is a road junction.

As I approach, I see the bonnet of a car starting to emerge from the junction to my left. I know the road/junction well and know that at that point he will not be able to see me. So I do the sensible thing and move towards the middle of the road to maximise his view of me when.

A car coming towards me decides to overtake the parked cars by driving in my lane. How I got back over to the left and swung out again to miss the car emerging from the junction (Slowly and looking) I don't know.

I pulled up at the side of the road thinking I was going to be sick. The driver from my left, pulled up in front of me to check I was OK and re assured me that I had done nothing wrong and that the oncoming car, had made no effort to avoid me or even slowed in order to overtake the parked cars.

I think I lost a life today. I have never ridden home so carefully and cautious after that. Part of me wanted to chase after him, the other half wanted me to walk away from the bike.

Last time I was this scared was 20+ years ago when a car pulled out on me and I didn't know whether to hit the brakes or try to ride round.

wow, left with very few options, probably a testament to your riding experienced that you navigated all that! One glass of whisky please for Mr Wilky.

Well done for avoiding that! I think I'd've made a splat noise. Either as I hit the road or bonnet of the car, or in my pants if I missed them.

Terrifying. I've been in a similar situation with a Mercedes 4x4 deciding to come steaming on to my side of the road as hers had cars parked on it. I don't know how I managed to get past either. Some drivers just have it coming to them.

As someone else said, it is a testament to your riding experienced that you managed to navigate all that.

Sounds mega scary but you got through it and nothing happened. Dont dwell on the "what if.." or "what could've" because that doesn't matter. You're still in one piece (and so is the bike) and thats all that matters :D

Well done that man, but yet another vote for the "expect not to be seen" pot.

This could have been a very different thread quite easily by the sounds of it.
