Baffle in collector box?

Hey,
I cut the original pipe and fitted a Remus can last week, and once the original can was off, discovered some baffling in the collector/pipe, like so:

It's either that or the catalytic converter (??) but i was under the impression that's inside the original can.

How do i go about hooking that little bugger out?
I would a) like a little bit more volume  and b) like to aid the flow through the original headers, as i can't be arsed with a full system.

Cheers,
Mike

try putting a link in sv talk and issues, you will probably get more response (i'm afraid i don't know the answer either!!)

Don't know the answer but that definitely didn't look like mine when chopped, mine's a K5, from the look of that paint you've got a K7? (Deeply jealous of K7 red, definitely the best red out there).

Personal opinion.

Thsat don't belong in there, it is interfering with the free flow of your exhaust gas and need to be ripped out. I guess a 2" diameter drill will soon rip it up.

I would guess it is some form of cat

Yeah it's a K7. Nice colour but damn expensive and inconvenient to get anything colour matched being a Candy colour with all the special dyes and inks in it.

After looking up honeycomb catalytic converters, I think it's gotta be one of them. I was under the impression the cat was in the can, but i suppose they just filled it with baffles hence the sound and ridiculous weight.
I think it's best I find out about warranty terms before I rip the cat out, I don't wanna go invalidating it for a (frankly negligible) little bit more flow and noise.

It’s the same on the K8 SV650S SPORT Suzuki have put some kind of sensor in collector pipe along with a catalytic converter now.

If you change your end can will it run ok because of the sensor in the collector pipe where catalytic converter is?

I know if you have full system you have to disconnect the sensor, which lights up a warning light all the time on the clocks.

Yeah it runs just as well (if not better) than before with an aftermarket end can on it. I might be imagining it, but it seems like it revs a bit more freely since getting rid of the original bazooka!

It's called a Lamda or Oxygen sensor, and helps control mixture.I'd be a bit careful about removing it.
