Sliders for sv650s with a lower fairing
 

I have a 2002 sv650s with the lower fairing. This is my first bike and I bought the bike used. the guy said it was all stock, however I noticed a vortex rear sprocket, and that no one else seems to have the lower fairing. It makes the bike look great, but I was wondering about frame slider compatibility. Does anyone have any experience with this?? I would like to get sliders that go through the engine block if possible. thanks for the help.

Unfortunately any decent crash bung will require you to modify the lower fairing a bit...

Get a hole saw bit and drill a hole in the fairing where the bung is like this guy did...

i have r&g ones on mine and im sure you dont need to modify the lower fairing, i will let you know if i ever get mine back from the guy spraying them. It feels like a lifetime

Go with R&G, you don't need to do any cutting as they fit just right. I can take a pic of my bike if you want to see what they look like.

+1 for the r&g's. Fit onto a little bracket, no cutting of the lowers needed:D

JHS racing made the best but unfortunately they nolonger make them, they next best is Motosliders.

Personally I wouldn't opt for the R&G's, there are a few flaws with the design that even some people at R&G would admit that. The only way to rectify this is for R&G to redesign the whole thing, but that would mean giving in and listening to what everybody has been complaining about for the past few years!

I am not saying they are terrible but if you think how much they cost (more than Motosliders) and how much protection they really offer (less than Motosliders) is it really sensible to get them? I have tested R&G's personally and on several track bikes, this involved standard and modified and to be honest they were no match for JHS or Motosliders.

R&G do make good crash bungs, just not for the SV650!

Avoid any cheap bungs which mount on either the front or rear cylinder mount (DHM for example), as these bolts are not strong enough to take the force.

The main thing to remember is having crash bungs doesn't mean your bike will not get damaged if you crash, they are there to possibly help reduce the damage!

What are these flaws Dave?

What did the R&Gs do worse when you tested them than the JHS or Motosliders?

Are we talking low grade metal bolts? And aren't the bungs quite uniform with all other shapes around?

The tapered bung (even when not tapered), low quality bolts, and in two accounts the brackets weren't much to praise about!
