Visited Evotech today :D

Well I had a day off today so rode the 80miles or so of lovely roads to ecotech performance in Alford.

Bought a tail tidy for my 600rr then rode home and fitted it. suprised how easy it was to do.

I dont think their main business is bike bits, they are call drury precision metal and seem to do alsorts, the evotech bit is just a side part of the main business, very nice bunch though, whe i turned up they were all playing football, but it ended up ontop of the spike fence popped, very amusing but you probably had to be there lol

Masking taped on for the pics lol, i need to figure out how to fit the plate without drilling it.

As for the reflector, it doesnt need an MOT for a fair while so not a big problem, I think there was a sticker in the box that is reflective, not sure where I would put it mind.

The letter size is legal as the numberplate place measured and said he would not do otherwise, they are the very minimum they can be however, Just found out that its actually illegal for a bike to have its registration on one line...it HAS to be on two.....the numberplate place didnt tell me that so abit gutted now:(

May need to get another plate or chance it and see if I get stopped, I have seen the police check alot worse down matlock but they ignored the plates and just checked tax/insurance.

3) I visited Scorpion exhausts and you'd be simply amazed how nice the people are who work in the fabrication industry. Its the poor retailing that lets their name down, such a shame

4) My mate owns a numberplate manufacturing business. PM me if you need it rectifying anytime, I'll see what I can do yer for.

5) Whats the LEGAL dimensions needed, do you (anyone!) know? (7 chars for me)

5a) I though 6 figure plates were OK on one line. I read it somewhere recently. Its definitely 2 lines for 7, but I thought 6 were OK.

Happy snazzy riding, Mr Illegal (I know, you'll only be riding on private roads until then ;))

I dont think it stand out that much to be honest, in the flesh it look like normal size, cant see it attracting much unwanted attention to be honest.

DVLA has the very specific nitty gritty details, thats where I got my sizes for my letter from. It does say one line on a bike is illegal, but I have seen loads like it, I can see the police being picky on size of the plate and letters but not the actual layout as long as the spacings are correct

Would really heavy duty adesive pads hold the plate on somewhere like that.......or would i be better using heavy duty super glue?

I really dont want to have to use screws.

You can get adhesive pads same as is used for car plates, but I'm not sure how much framework is on the Evotech tidy for you to attach the plate to. I'd be using screws tbh, why not? You can get black and yellow and position it nicely.

I would get a 7x5 plate made up, I'm not sure if it fits legal size letters though. If it did it might look a little odd - I think the plate you have now looks a tad strange (can't put my finger on it) because of the lettering - maybe just "too much" lettering?! A 7x5 plate will only cost you £10 (delivered) so not really massive cost. I used an online company called Autoreg, have used them twice and my mate once & they are recommended.

P.s. if you think one-line plates don't wind trafpol up then... OK ;) I say no more :p
