Where should clutch biting point be ?
Have searched through forums and has used method to adjust clutch by Mr Sid Squid . loosen cable adjusters , release lower lock nut , back off screw , then slowly tighten and once tight back up 1/4 turn and lock off.
Now there is approx 5 - 10 mm of cable slack at lever and clutch bites half way through lever travel . The clutch used to bit in last third of travel , where should a correctly adjusted clutch bite at ? thanks Bike is a k5 pointy s |
Re: Where should clutch biting point be ?
Just been out for a spin , clutch feels fine no drag & no slip , Just thought that a correctly adjusted clutch would have a bite point nearer the end of the clutch lever travel rather than starting to bite in the middlle of movement

Re: Where should clutch biting point be ?
It should be wherever you like it to be ;) I think Suzuki spec a position about halfway, every time I've had a bike serviced professionally they always mess with the clutch lever adjustment, and every time I gave myself a fright in the car park.

Re: Where should clutch biting point be ?
personal preference i think, I like it where I like as I have diddy little hands etc. But Im Indoors borrows my bikes every now and again, shouts and screams its all wrong and goes adjusting it, to how he likes it, so I end up doing what Northy does:-(
So long as it works and doesn't cause creeping, slips and draggin etc it'll be fine |
Re: Where should clutch biting point be ?
thanks for the replys .
It was the first time I had adjusted the clutch mechanism itself , after I had loosened locking nut and backed off screw a couple of turns , then tightend slowly until I felt contact and then backed off 1/4 a turn I was a bit unsure if I had tightened screw enough before backing off ( if you know what I mean) Cheers |
