R&Gs, tried and tested

Had an off at Rockingham International circuit yesterday, highside on the 180 coming off the oval back in to the infield. The bike slide for 50 metres and then flipped over when it hit the grass. The only damage from the slide was a crack in the fairing from where the bung was bent backwards - luckily the K6 GSXR750 fairing comes in several parts so I only need to replace the single piece. No pegs or brake lever damage, fairings and tail all untouched.

When it flipped it it broke the end off the clutch and the mirror/indicator (which i should learn to take off!). Weird thing I popped a screw out of the screen when I headbutted as I went over the bars I think but the R&Gs have saved me a fortune! Totally recommended.

Rider, well I'm pretty round and soft these days but damaged my right knee landing on the track and being dragged a bit, chest muscles pulled and a bit of whiplash. Good job I was wearing my 4 star Shoei and not an inferior make of lid or my head could have been a mess (joke guys ;))

Glad you're relatively OK.
& the bike sounds like it survived remarakbly well. I take it most of that is due to it mostly happenning on the grass?
When I slid a bike with crash bungs, the bungs did an absolute amazing job IMO but it still left cosmetic damage on every single conceivable thing that could possibly touch down. Therefore in terms of an insurance job of replacing to new they might even only have done harm :???:

Hope you managed to enjoy most of the day - did you get back out?

Glad you are almost alright, thats the main thing. I have always said that R&G do make good bungs, the best on the market but just not for the SV650!

yeah, I was lucky on both counts. The bike actually slid mostly on the track and ended up on the grass so I can't believe it was OK. No pics I'm aftraid, my mate was supposed to have had the cam on rear facing but forgot it, it would have been pointing right at me, now I'd have liked to have seen that :p

Couldn't go put again as knee was too swollen to put leathers back on and leather were cut a little around the knee, they did a good job on the slide.

I just sold my GSXR600K2 which would have been a great track bike. There's a big advantage of having a track only bike but have a very small garage so 1 bike is my limit. Thanks for the thought though :D
