I packed up while I was in hospital in January, so it doesn't really bother me. I will say that I do still love the smell of fresh cigarette smoke, but I didn't realise how bad I smelt when it had gone a little stale.
I still think that the ban should be at the venues discretion. A lot of people went to the pub for a chat, a pint & a smoke and now about 6 pubs a day are closing down. I would have thought that was partly down to people not being able to smoke. I know of a few pwople that just go to the supermarket now, buy the cheap ale, drink at home so they can have a fag while drinking.

Holland has just done it, so I don't see why we can't.

Personally, the ban has been great! No more fuss about taking the kids out for meals etc because of a smoky environment.

For the company I work for, not so great. As a direct result of the smoking ban, they started loosing £400,000 every month (yes, you read that right!). That went on for 8 months (£3.2m down the pan) and they entered discussions to sell that sector of the business.

For a while it looked like the sale wasn't going to go through, which would of resulted in the loss of all jobs within that sector - approx 600 people at the dole office. However, a close rival to the company has just stepped up to the platter. They can have the UK, we'll conquer the world! :smt032:reaper:

Best thing ever, now my clothes don't stink. My eyes don't stream.

But Why oh Why do the smokers have to congregate round the entrance doors at my local hospital? Put their fags out all over the floor, despite there being no smoking signs all over. Patients hooked up to drips, catheters hanging from beneath night dresses etc. If they are well enough to leave their beds/wards for a cig. Then well enough to go home.

Ok, I will admit that at stupid O'Clock in my local. Certain individuals are known to light up. Well you can hardly stand outside with a pint/cig at 3 in the morning.

Not really noticed much difference here, apart from the next morning. Guess I just lived with it when the clubs and pubs were smoky. I'm quite happy about it though, despite never really feeling the effects, since it must help not breathing it in all the time.
