Will it make a difference tho?
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/a...ear/article.do
Basically the article say how the Coroner has issued a 'warning' to cyclists to not wear ipods or the like while cycling. But will it ever become law? Do you think its a good idea or just another 'lets have a go at the poor old cyclists' Also on a similar note was this funny one... http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/a...ike/article.do You'd think his small army of plain clothes protection officers would have spoted the theft  |

Re: Will it make a difference tho?
I love that he chained his bike to a short bollard and was then suprised that someone had managed to take it
doesn't say much for his country leadership credentials... ...oh wait based on past experience of politicians - he's perfectly qualified!! |
Re: Will it make a difference tho?
I have often seen teenage idiots simply walking with an Ipod without looking and walking straight out infront of me.
Another one where you would hope common sense would prevail, sadly it doesnt. cyclist/motorcyclist/pedestrians with Ipod simply arnt concentrating on what they are doing as much as they should be, and frankly it is dangerous. |

I usually use an MP3 player when I ride, but the volume is usually set at a level that if you pulled up next to me at some lights, we could chat and you would never know. As for where my concentration is, well I enjoy the songs as I listen to them, but if you were to ask me what I had listened to on my way to work, I would be hard pressed to name many of the tracks. Having the volume up too loud however, to the extent that you are isolated in your own world is bad tho. |

You may not be, but the push cyclist I ran over in my car a few years ago was when he rode straight out between two cars. And there numerous other times when I have seen people walk/ride straight out whilst not looking or 'listening' |
Re: Will it make a difference tho?
In't that kind of akin to saying "Pay attention to what you are doing" though?
I've been guilty of not "Paying attention to what I was doing" in the past which has led to walking into a parking meters and cutting my thumb while chopping vegetables amongst other things. |
Re: Will it make a difference tho?
i hate cycling without my ipod, makes the journey more enjoyable and makes me ride harder. i just pay attention to what i'm doing when cycling, plus it's not really loud enough for me not to hear what's going on around me.

Re: Will it make a difference tho?
When i used to ride my mountain bike everywhere i would still only have only one earphone in and when that ear hurt change over to the other ear.
