Fuse problem.....AHHHHHHHH

Right 1st Hey guys how we all doin?

I have a sv650s K1 (51), the speedo drive has given up the ghost when I changed the tyres, DOH 8-[

Now it keeps blowing the fuse that handles the 'dash' lights, rev counter, indicators and rear lights, I have tried with the 'broken' speedo disconnected and with my lights off and it still happens, always at random....:smt074
The new fuse lasts anywhere between 5 mins to the next day!!!!!

SOOOOOOO before I delve into the harness is this a common fault or has anyone else come across the same prob?

Also, ;), if someone knows where to get a cheaper than £50 speedo drive....:notworthy:

I bet you shiney english pound that the wiring loom is rubbing against the frame somwhere. Places to check

1. Around the headstock
2. Where the loom disappears under the tank / airbox
3. Where the riders seat is, the bolts that hold the seat on can rub onto the wiring loom
4. In and around the rear plastics, sometimes the loom rubs on the subframe.

HTH

I am having a similar problem except my fuses never last more than about 30 seconds.

But i am puzzled as to how this would cause the fuse to keep blowing. Is it just if the wires are touching something or is it because the wires are being "pinched".
