I have new reading specs

And boy, is it weird.

This may not seem like a big deal to most, but it's been 3 years since the hospital started treating me for nerve damage at each corner of my eyes. Finally the prescription I needed was determined and off I went for new glasses.

The difference is amazing, everything is so bright and colourful and I can read again without having to put the magazine on the floor while I'm sat on the sofa.

Next up are my long distance specs, they did do some but got the centres wrong so I ended up with worse double vision than without them, but both of what I saw was a lot clearer, so I was almost tempted to take those as well

Cool! (not that you need specs, but that you can now see so much better).

So you need long range stuff too??? .. sounds like some bi-focals are in order!! 8)

Can't do bi or varifocals with the amount of prism I need in my specs. I'm stuck with two pairs unfortunately.

These reading specs I have are about 9mm thick, they look proper mongy.

Have you considered lazer surgery, or is that a no-go with your 'condition'?

You can't correct my double vision with lazer surgery. The problem lies in the nerves outside the eye at each corner, not within the eye itself.

Check out the thickness of these babies

Wowsers! Them's some big coke bottles ends!

Nice to see you went for the thin frame, no one will notice when you've got them on! ;)

That very much depends on how much I'm allowed to see ;)

Unfortunately, there's not much choice of decent frames to suit a lens that thick. As they're only readers I'm not too bothered about appearance, my long distance ones will have thinner lenses and nicer frames that won't get destroyed by shoving in and out of helmets.
