Micron Exhaust. Should I ?

Sorry for the stupid questions:

My mate drove his thundercat into a fence & wrote it off :crutches:
The exhaust is undamaged and he says I can have it. :D

The question is; can I use this exhaust on an SV?
If I can (pun not intended) can I fit this easily?
How do I attach it to the existing pipework? Welding or is there some handy bolt section?
Will it look like an abortion if I don't like it and go back to stock?

Searched for the info on here and other places but nothing seems to answer my noob questions.

Re: Micron Exhaust. Should I ?

You'll probably need to get yourself a link pipe (cut your pipework about 5cm from the weld - standard procedure for fitting an aftermarket can).
The tricky bit might be finding the correct link pipe, to fit both, the sv pipework and the can.
Firs place to ask would be Micron themselves, me thinks...
If you can get it, then the answer is simple, DO IT!!!
:)
If you'll want to go back to stock, you'll also need a new link pipe but this one is easy to get.

+ 1, if it is a slip-on can then you may be lucky and find the inlet diameter is the same as Art, CCC, Blueflame, Viper, Quill, Scorpion, etc... measure it and you can get connecting pipes from Bluflame, Viper, etc...

will it not mess the fuelling as its not designed for the SV.

You wanna bet, about 90% of the exhausts on the market are identical cans and only the connecting pipe is different or the inlet cap (bolt-on/slip-on).

Thanks guys,

So all I need is a hacksaw, a bit of pipe suitable to slip over exisiting SV pipe (at 1 end) and Micron end (which will probably be different) and some thing holding the pipe onto either end. Oh and some bolts to hold the micron on the bike.

Do I need to seal it with a bit of gunk (or similar) or should the fit of the interconnection pipe be enough?

The fit of the pipework should be enough, you can get exhaust clamps at most dealers, auto shops, or online.

It's probably the same can - least the Micron I had was listed for SV and Thundercat.

You can't phone or get help from Micron as they've ceased trading. :(

If it's the Micron spring fit you can prob just get some tabs welded to someone else's link pipe, or just use the clamp.

When I got my new can fitted we were initially talking about a custom fit as it's got Micron headers - so I'm sure you could get a custom size made if needed.
