dodgey spark plug fitting?
 

When I removed the plugs they were very loose and both were corroding...It’s my first time changing the plugs on a bike but it can’t be good having the seals of the plug all messed up like that. Im sure its not normal but i dunno, my cars dont get as exposed to the elements as my bike...

The replacement of the pair have cued a slight problem i have when starting from hot, i.e. filling up a petrol station and starting up again - it would start but stall shortly afterwards when coming down to idle.

Torque up your plugs!

Looks like you got them out just in time, i put copper grease on the threads before putting them in ad don't forget the plugs have arrows on them which need to face the exhaust side of the head. I didn't know that until the second time i did them!

Got a fender extender??? This will help stop water getting to the front plug...

I'd also recommend putting a bit of silicone sealant on the plug cap to help prevent water from getting in and clean out the drainage hole.

Sounds like you might not have the plug caps/s seated back on properly.

Give them a good push, you should hear them 'click' as they seat down .. (its the metal bar in the cap clicking on the top threads).

I have a fender extender on there already, only had it about 7 weeks, and only just got around to changing these. This time i used some high melting point grease on the leads rubber seal.

The new ones are now on nice and tight/securely. Really pushed the leads onto them and used a bit of WD40 inside to clear up an mess/rust.

Just really surprised the previous own, or his mechanic didnt do a better job. Loose leads and the plugs werent torqued up at all.

I wish it made a massive difference with my bike but it didnt do much. Still runs sweet.

Be careful torqueing plugs up, you only need to crush the washer enough to seal it. NGK plugs are supposed to be done finger tight plus half a turn according to the back of the box IIRC.

Use copper slip too.

This was the problem with my sons SV650SY at the rear, along with other issues.
