Fallen out of love

Hello forum personages. I have a Red 650SK5 on an 05 plate. It has just over 2000 miles on the clock is in mint condition. It's had more polish than petrol and apart form washing has never seen the wet. I did however ride through a small puddle once.

Its standard, apart from OEM colour matched hugger, fender extenda, tail tidy, OEM seat cowl and a Fabri DB dark screen. (OK not so standard).

BUT....I've fallen out of love with her/him/it (I am quite fickle)

So I want to canvas opinions. Spend some cash on it, new end can, belly pan / lowers etc etc OR sell it and go for something else.

OK its not an end of the world decision for me to make but hopefully I'll get some interesting opinions...

Over to you and thanks for your input.

What dont you like about it ?

Sometimes you just have to face facts and realise the bikes not for you, but with only 2K on the clock personally I think you need to ride it more to find it charms ?

Go on a track day with it and see how you feel after that.

To be honest, the only thing I don't like about it is the riding position, which is why I don't ride it as much as I should, gives me back and shoulder ache - I'm getting old.

I did do a track day at the end of June and did thoroughly enjoy it, especially around the twisty bits, held off some much bigger bikes on the bends but lost out on the straights, as you would.

Personally then I'd sell it and get something that is more comfortable for you. I wouldnt bother spending money on extra's you'll never see it back.

Put some higher bars on it. I put some on my SK1 and the difference is night and day, much much nicer to ride...........and to remind me just how much better it is my other SK1 still has standard bars so I get to do a true back-to-back regularly.

It's surprising how much effect you can get from a relatively small change, only maybe 3cm higher and 2cm rearwards.

Is it you that has put the 2k on it, or have you done less than that? Also have you been riding anything else or is that it? Either way, I'd suggest you haven't done enough miles to give it a fair assessment. You muscles would get used to being in that position if you rode it more.

I changed my sv for a z750 and while I sometimes miss the sporty riding position the more upright position of the Z more than makes up for it IMO, just so much more comfotable at slower speeds and the windblast is actually a bonus for the licence.

Well this is a tough one. 2000 miles on an 05 one puddle etc... sounds like you don't like to ride to me IMHO.

With that I think you would struggle to be happy with any bike.

Just get out and ride and don't look between your legs and just take it all in.
