Longer dogbones 41mm
 

I need your help. When i first got my bike I ordered some longer dogbones. When they arrived there was nothing to indicate that they were the 41 mm ones (the longest of the longer dogbones) instead of the 25mm ones (the normal longer dogbones). Nothing in the accompagnying fitting instructions or on the dogbones themselves. So I assumed these were the 25mm ones. I recently ordered another pair and the seller (ebay) assures me these are the 41 mm ones. Again there's nothing to say they are. I have just compared the new ones with the ones on the bike and they are the same length so that's not going to make any difference. I've measured mine and they are 18 cm long from top to bottom (edge). Is there someone out there that has the longer ones and can tell me if the 41mm ones are 18cm long? I hope someone can help. yup .. top to bottom .. 180mm ... centre to centre on the eyes is 151mm

i asked the same ?.. and found out for every 1mm over the standard lenght it is 10mm at back

you wont find much of a difference unless you drop the front aswell.

So am I right in thinking that the longer the suspension linkages the lower the back end? I'm looking to raise the back end a little so should I be looking for shorter than standard Suspension linkages?

Do you know how much yours is dropped at the front. As maybe can drop it a bit more.

I believe Dangerous Dave recommends no more than 10mm lower on the front forks, he knows his stuff when it comes to SV tuning as he has been doing it since 1999. At least he said something about the forks dropped 10mm when he was talking to my son last week. Hopefully he will be along at some point to confirm.

yup 12mm max ... for the standard kangaroo's..

12mm is a bit much. Most people go to 10mm max.

Correct Geoffrey, you are learning well old chap.

10mm is the max and optimum when lowering the entire SV, if you are lowering just the front or jacking up the rear (I know you are not, this is just for reference) you will need to fit new springs and oil to suit your weight. As you are lowering both front and rear the weight distribution will remain virtually standard and no suspension modification/upgrade is required.
