Why do we love our kids?
1 Attachment(s)
Those who know me are aware I have a daughter. She was born in January and despite all the prognosis she is doing very well and brings so much joy to our family. I was not ready to be a dad. I wanted the freedom I had before. But now I would never go back to my life without Milena. So are we programmed to feel like this? Or is it just me? Why do kids change our priorities so much without even trying. Why do we feel the way we do?

Re: Why do we love our kids?
It a responsibility that you cant ignore, so feel that you have to feel it.
I cant understand people that would actually want them, but then I think I must I must not have that part in my brain like you describe. People I went to uni with are getting pregnant deliberately and then having to quit jobs when they could do so well in life, seems a waste to me. Whatever floats your boat though I guess. Your nipper looks lovely by the way. |

Re: Why do we love our kids?
You don't have to have kids to know unconditional love.
But. I don't want kids. I can't think of anything that would bugger up my life more. I'm just glad that there're so many other people who will carry on the human race without me having to lift a finger. :p |

As much as you love your partner, even at its greatest point, it is not anywhere near how you feel for your own child. It is a strange one and I too never thought this was true until my son was born (hes now 7 and I feel exactly the same way and this will never change) I feel lucky to feel like this, life is about that journey and experiencing all the emotions that come with it, good and bad. wow im going to shut up now, im a new member and dont want to scare you all to the point where I get banned lol. [back to butch new biker mode] grrrrrr. |
Re: Why do we love our kids?
I'm with you Dave (& Vespillo [edit])! Nice to hear another bloke actually cherishing their child and not too big to say it loud! Everytime I ride the ultimate goal is to get home safely to my son.
Dont get me wrong G and Ping - we all thought we knew love but bearing you own fruit.........................................you cant believe. nb650 |
Re: Why do we love our kids?
I have a daughter , who I love more than life itself as cheesy as that sounds. She is the one thing I can be proud of in my life and I can honestly say the only person alive I would happily lie down my own life for if it meant even a second longer for her to live.
There is a special bond between kids and their parents that is hard to explain as has been said its unconditional love. She infuriates me sometimes with not listening etc and being a typical kid but nothing she can do will ever change the way I feel for her, or my want to protect and care for her as best I can. God help any living soul who ever tried to hurt her or take her away from me etc, as that person better find a different planet to move to as I would not stop hunting them down, and if I got hold of them they would have to redefine pain. |
