What caused this????!!!!

my lovely curvey is off the road now :-(

riding home other nite revs stated going all over the place making it like a kangeroo ride!!!

as i obviously needed to pull over i did so at the nearest roundabout in a lit area - though stopped even quicker when i looked round and saw my exhaust on fire!!!!!!!!!

managed to get it put out with help of a taxi driver who had an extingiusher:-)

now what caused it? and what am i best doing with the bike? its got usual sort of damage from dropping it too :-(

will post a pic once can get it off phone and resized for here

just thought - other than needing cleaning from the powder extinguisher is the powder gonna cause any other problems?

Whoa that's a new one.

Powder won't do any harm just give it a rinse off.

What was actually burning then? The sleeve of the can or was it just spitting lots of flames?

I have flames coming out of the exhaust quite often but never caught the bike on fire....

Anything down in the can that shouldn't be?

Powder extinguishers are a death sentence for electronics mate. It eats away at many IC companents, so you will need to check the loom over and any control boxes, particularly the ECU. You might have got off lucky but it's worth baring in mind. Have never seen that before - you were lucky that cabby drove past!

i can only think overfueling too - still, pretty extreme, bad luck mate!

Just seen YC's post above. I was told that powder damages electronics on a fire safety course when I was working as a safety steward - they prefer you not to let them off in a venue if possible because it destroys all their gear - the vehicles ones may not be the same powder I guess.
