Like the idea of it coming out of the hump, anything that reduces the chance of neck and spinal injury has to be a good idea.

No need to be. Just a CO2 canister for a few £'s & a rip cord attached to the bike to activate it

The idea behind it is quite simple as you have said, but the mark-up will be high from manufacturers. I would be tempted if it is priced like current helmets but a quick google says that the RRP will be about €829 (£650 ish)

Once it has been out for a while and becomes more common then i'm sure prices will start to come down. Still a good idea.
