Getting plastic off an exhaust?
OK, Puzzler for you.
You took your son out on the back of your pristine bike and after the ride you find his stupid plastic trainers (he wouldn't put his biking boots on  )have melted onto the brushed alloy high level end cans of your bike. How do you get it off? Can't use metal polish because it'll damage the brushed alloy finish. So what would you use? Cheers, Carl |
Re: Getting plastic off an exhaust?
I guess autosol is a metal polish then?
I honestly couldnt be sure other than that mate :( maybe soap and water and a LOT of elbow grease? |
Re: Getting plastic off an exhaust?
Try heating it again and peeling off as it cools?

Re: Getting plastic off an exhaust?
depending on the plastic solvents could be used

Re: Getting plastic off an exhaust?
use a blow torch gently, depending on where it it. Just heat it until it becomes pliable, then scrape it off with a piece of wood.
Once you've got the worst of it off, then the rest will come off in time, if it doesn't come off altogether. Polish will get off those last little bits. Be patient as the heat from the exhaust will do most of the work for you. Happened to me when I had a Beemer. |

Re: Getting plastic off an exhaust?
strong solvent will do it no problem - the stronger the better. make sure to cover anything you dont want to get the solvent on - ie, paint, plactics etc etc.
