Help required re hiring a bike in UK

Im going to be in Newcastle for a week or so over Christmas and want a bike for a few days. Riding up from London is not an option.

Cant find anyone who rents bikes other than a Harley place for £175 per day with £1000 XS!! :(

Ive looked at renting bikes here before and not found anything really. Anyone else? You could just spend a few days test riding loads of different bikes!

True. But for the second 150 miles you'll be on the fastest vehicle on the road, a motorbike that isn't yours...

but I'd have to drive from Newcastle to London, get get the train to manchester, ride back to Newcastle, have the bike for a few days, ride back to Manchester to return it and get the train back to Newcastle before driving back to London! ;)

Yeah, be alright if you get something comfy. Northumberland roads are awesome.
